Just a 5 to 10 minute pedal away from The Mountain Inn accommodation is Coolaney National Mountain Bike Park.
These amazing single-track trails and forestry roads are designed not only for MTB enthusiasts but for all thrill-seekers, relaxed sightseers and for those precious family days out with the kids.
The trails in Coolaney bike park vary in difficulty, so no matter your age or experience level, there is fun to be had for everyone, whilst breathing in that clean fresh Atlantic Ocean breeze that carries you on your bike across the top of the Ox Mountains.
The first phase development of the Coolaney Bike Trails have been completed and are open to the general public.
Summer 2021 will see Phase 2 kick-off some fresh new routes with exciting new views, built methodically by local trail builders Atlantic SingleTrack, who together share a massive passion for Mountain Biking.
Current trails take riders up through forestry roads and heathland with fabulous views northwards over Ballysadare Bay, Knocknarea (Queen Maeves Tomb), Strandhill, Sligo town, Benbulben and as far onward as Slieve League in Donegal.
On a clear day the views are a breath-taking sight so make space in your backpack for your camera or binoculars to take in the beautiful scenery.
If after your days cycling you feel your energy has been all but zapped, you can be rest assured knowing that it's pretty much all downhill to get back to us at the Mountain Inn.
Relax, put your feet up and enjoy a cold beer or soda to quench your thirst after your day of cycling!
Note: The car park is currently open from 9am to 9pm daily.
Bike Hire is currently unavailable until further notice.
A black trail was completed in late 2020 which is not on the above map. The trail begins just west of the The Hub marked on the map. It offers bikers exceptional views out towards Coolaney and The Hill of Knocknashee on one side and on the other-side looking out across the lower trails and The Hub.
The descent is a fast with some steeper drops into an array of berms, into rock gardens and back down to the Trail Head.
As of July 2021, works have re-commenced on Phase 2, in the hands of local trail building team Atlantic SingleTrack, who together share a massive passion for Mountain Biking.
An exciting biking adventure awaits you at Coolaney Mountain Bike centre!
