Only a 5 minute pedal from The Mountain Inn accommodation is Coolaney National Mountain Bike Park.
These single-track trails and forestry roads are designed not only for MTB enthusiasts but for all thrill-seekers, relaxed sightseers and for those precious family days out with the kids.
The trails in Coolaney vary in difficulty, so no matter your age or experience level, there is fun to be had for everyone, whilst breathing in that clean fresh Atlantic Ocean breeze that at times carries you across the top of the Ox Mountains.
The first phase development of the Coolaney Bike Trails have been completed and are open to the general public.
Summer 2021 will see Phase 2 kick-off some fresh new routes with exciting new views, built methodically by local trail builders Atlantic SingleTrack, who together share a massive passion for Mountain Biking.
Current trails take riders up through forestry roads and heathland with fascinating views northwards over Ballysadare Bay, Knocknarea (Queen Maeves Tomb), Strandhill, Sligo town, Benbulben and as far onward as Slieve League in Donegal (Irelands highest sea cliffs - 296 metres). On a clear day the views really are a breath-taking sight so don't forget your camera and/or binoculars.
If after your days cycling you feel your energy is zapped, you can rest assured knowing that all it takes is a freewheel spin downhill to get back to us at the Mountain Inn, for a warm welcome and a hot drink or pint of Guinness, whatever your taste may be.
Note: The car park is currently open from 9am to 9pm daily.
However if you are staying at the Inn you can easily cycle from B&B to the Trail Head in no time.
Bike Hire is currently unavailable until further notice...
A black trail was completed in late 2020 which is not on the above map. The trail begins just west of the The Hub marked on the map. It takes riders up a windy climb with exceptional views, 1 side looking out towards Coolaney and The Hill of Knocknashee, the other looking out across the trails and The Hub.
The descent is a fast and fun with a drop from the top as cyclists wheel quickly down from into an array of berms before passing through some rock gardens and back down to the car park.
As of July 2021, works have re-commenced on Phase 2, under the watchful eye of local trail building team Atlantic SingleTrack, who together share a massive passion for Mountain Biking.
An exciting biking adventure awaits you at Coolaney Mountain Bike Centre
